Eurima, sees the European Commission's presentation today of the Green Paper on a 2030 framework for climate and energy policies as an important opportunity to re-emphasise the need for the EU to boost its competitiveness and sustainable growth with an ambitious, coherent and mutually re-enforcing set of measures and targets, including a meaningful binding energy savings target.

The Energy Efficiency Directive is now published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force on 05/12/2012. The EU Member States must transpose it into national legislation by 06/2014. Click here to download the Directive
The Buildings Performance Institute Europe (BPIE) launched a data hub for buildings performance and related policies in Europe, www.buildingsdata.eu. This open data portal gives facts and figures collected for the study ‘Europe’s Buildings under the Microscope’ which was released at the end of 2011. It includes a wide variety of technical data never collected EU-wide before.

Investing in building renovation could accrue up to €175 billion per year for public finances with an additional "one-off" boost to GDP in the range of €153 to €291 billion for the years up to and including 2017.
