Eurima Response to the European Commission Consultation Green Paper on Market-Based Instruments for Environment and Related Policy Purposes

Eurima welcomes the launch by the European Commission of a debate on the use of market-based instruments (MBI) for environment and energy purposes and calls on all EU institutions and Member States to swiftly adopt action in this area.

In order to achieve rapid emission cuts in the most cost-effective manner, Member Sates should consider adopting targets ranging between 1.5 and 2% of annual energy efficiency improvement; a realistic range already chosen by several EU countries.

Eurima's Response to the Consultation Paper on the European Strategy for Sustainable, Competitive and Secure Energy

As an industry that has been actively involved in campaigning, since the late 1980's, to reduce the staggering waste of energy from the European building stock - currently standing at the equivalent of 3.3 million barrels of oil a day - we welcome the publication of the consultation paper on a European Strategy for Sustainable, Competitive and Secure Energy.

EURIMA POSITION PAPER ON THE GREEN PAPER ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY

EURIMA welcomes the Commission’s Green Paper and supports the direction of the Vidal-Quadras Report. However, there are two areas where the European Parliament must show greater ambition. First, regarding existing residential buildings and second, in dealing with the crisis in the new Member States of the EU regarding high-rise multi family housing.

EURIMA's Response to EC Paper - "Cohesion Policy and Cities: the Urban Contribution to Growth and Jobs in the Regions"

EURIMA welcomes the Commission Working Paper on "Cohesion Policy and Cities: the Urban Contribution to Growth and Jobs in the Regions". The urban dimension of the EU cohesion policy is crucial since 8 out of 10 Europeans live in cities where most of Europe's energy is consumed, where people work and the majority of its greenhouse gases are emitted.

Tap into the vast potential!

The EP will vote on the Energy Services Directive on 12-15 December 2005. e5 pleads for a Directive that taps the vast potential of energy efficiency in the European Union at maximum range. To achieve this goal, e5 has written an open letter to the MEPs, together with CAN Europe, CECED, EREF,  EURIMA, EuroACE, ES-SO, Friends of the Earth and WWF
